World Book Day
Today 1st March 2012 was World Book Day. Our class decided that we would go read stories to the junior and senior infants. After break we went over to the infant classroom and paired up with some of the children. We picked out story books from their library and read them stories. We also got the class to pick out books that they wanted us to read to them. We had lots of fun reading them stories.

The Aztecs
This month (February) we worked on the theme "The Aztecs". We learned a lot about them. We are doing projects about them this week which we will present to the class on Friday. The Aztecs were strange people as they believed the sun died at night time. They believed human sacrifices would get the sun to rise up again the next day. So they cut out peoples hearts as they believed the hearts and the blood would give nourishment to the sun. We made timelines and comic strips about the Aztecs.
In art we made Aztec Headdresses,
We also made Aztec Stone Calendars.
We also did projects on the Aztecs at the end of the month to show everything we learned
Pancake Tuesday 2012
On Pancake Tuesday Joanne (one of the teachers in our school) came in to our class and made pancakes with us. We used a hot plate, weighing scales, flour, eggs, milk, sugar and oil to make the pancakes. For toppings we had lemon, sugar, nutella, and chocolate sauce. We made pancakes for the whole school. Before we made the pancakes we went around to all the classes and took the orders. Chocolate sauce was the most popular choice. We also asked children to donate money to a charity by giving 50c each for a pancake. We hoped to raise €50. We made €65.11. We made 170 pancakes! Everyone enjoyed the pancakes we made :)
